Custom Sheep or Goat Polyclonal Antibody

Bio-Synthesis (BSI) provides polyclonal antibody production in its USDA-licensed facility using Bohre Crossbred Goat or Suffolk Sheep that are both preconditioned and Q Fever Negative. These goats/sheeps often produce antibodies for larger batch volume. We can produce polyclonal antibody with a wide variety of antigens, from bacteria, viruses, fungi, fusion proteins, synthetic peptides, and plasmid DNA, as well as a variety of other proteins.

Typical antigen requirement is 5.0 mg conjugated peptide/animal, and 3.0 mg protein antigen/animal. However, amounts may vary due to antigen availability and additional antigen is required for affinity purification.

Two production schedules are provided for our goat/sheep polyclonal antibody services. Our standard procedure can be modified to customer specifications. ELISA determination results of antibody titer are faxed or e-mailed to you for your data package. Additional animals are available for all service packages.

BSI supplies a Polyclonal Antibody Information Sheet with each inquiry to assist in meeting our customer's specifications.
Don't see what you need? Just ask - in most cases we can accommodate your request. If you require help in choosing the services for your polyclonal antibody production, feel free to consult our experts.

All of our antibody packages can be prolonged with an additional immunization every 28 days which includes an additional bleed 10 days after the immunization. Production extension is an additional charge of animal maintenance fee.

We offer two standard custom antibody protocols (combinations of hosts and protocol time frame) From peptide design, synthesis, and conjugation, to antibody generation and purification, Bio-Synthesis offers a complete package to meet your protein detection needs. User-design production protocol also available and can also be modified from existing package.
Serum Production Specification:
Immunization schedule listed below are approximate (± 2 days).

  • Two Boer, Nubian, Alpine or ToggenbergCrossbred Goat or Suffolk will be utilized for each MAP- peptide, conjugated-peptide immunogen, or protein immunogen packages.
  • Total material required for injection for the program below is 3.0-3.5 mg protein/animal, 6.0-7.0 mg peptide conjugate/animal. If we are conjugating your protein we assume a 20% loss of protein during conjugation. Total amount of serum expected from a goat/sheep on the program below is approximately ~1000 mL/animal.
  • Immunogen is emulsified in Freund's Complete Adjuvant (FCA) for initial injections. Freund's Incomplete Adjuvant (FIA) is used for all subsequent injections (boosts).
  • Continuation of project past our standard immunization schedule is offered on a month to month basis. The standard extension protocol includes one booster, two serum collections, and maintenance for one month. Terminal bleeds may be obtained at any time yielding approximately ~1000 ml/animal of additional plasmaphoresis serum taken upon customer request.
