The Annual Conference on Vaccine Research provides high-quality, current reports of scientific progress featured in both invited presentations and submitted oral abstracts and posters.   As the premier venue for cutting edge learning, effective data sharing, and scientific collaboration on issues related to vaccines and immunization, the conference features international experts leading symposia and panel discussions.

The NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education, a division of the Office of Intramural Research, administers a variety of programs and initiatives to recruit and develop individuals who participate in research training activities on the NIH main campus in Bethesda, MD. The annual Postbaccalaureate Poster Day also includes scientific lectures all being held in conjunction with the Spring Research Festival Exhibit.

The Scientific Program at IMMUNOLOGY 2012™ features cutting-edge developments from scientists at every career stage, including world leaders in immunology presenting their research in plenary lectures and special symposia, award lecture presentations, and major symposia. In addition, more than 550 other AAI members and guests will present their latest findings in over 100 sessions. And over 1,600 poster presenters will display and discuss their findings throughout the week.

This multidisciplinary, scientific meeting features plenary and award lectures, pre-meeting workshops, oral and posters sessions, on-site career services and exhibits of an array of equipment, supplies and publications required for research labs and experimental study.

This AACR Annual Meeting will highlight the best and latest findings in all major areas of cancer research. Investigators in a wide variety of disciplines will attend and benefit from hearing about these advances and networking with their colleagues. Cancer researchers continue to make incredible strides and breakthroughs, with an impact on global health. The theme of the AACR Annual Meeting 2012, “Accelerating Science: Concept to Clinic,” reflects this amazing progress and emphasizes the synergy between basic, clinical, and translational research that will continue to lead to effective cancer therapies and prevention strategies.

Organizations around the world are involved in research pertaining to biothreat agents, vaccines, detection and diagnostic procedures, animal and plant pathogens, biosecurity facilities, global surveillance, the training of individuals in BL3 and BL4 labs, and other vital topics. As technology changes and research evolves, professionals involved in biodefense are being challenged to move ever faster to respond to the growing threat of bioterrorism.  ASM offers the Biodefense and Emerging Diseases Research Meeting as an opportunity for addressing these needs.

The National Institutes of Health is one of the world’s foremost biomedical research centers, and the Federal focal point for biomedical research in the United States. The asm2011 covers fundamental microbial cell biology, genetics and physiology, environmental and applied microbiology and microbial ecology, pathogenesis and clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The meeting showcases the central role of microbes in the biosphere by reporting today’s best science in the diverse areas influenced by microbes. The breadth of this meeting provides participants opportunities for immersion in fields of specialization as well as forays into different disciplines.

Upon completion of asm2011 attendees should be able to:

• Use new new technologies, new practices, and developments in clinical microbiology to improve their clinical practice and patient outcomes;
• Recognize and interpret critical information regarding physiology, genetics, and cell biology of microbes;
• Discuss key updates in the areas of microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology and applied microbiology; and

• Synthesize new data on the roles of microbes in health and disease, and aspects of host immunity to infectious diseases.

AAI committees carry out a variety of activities including planning the AAI Annual Meeting, sponsoring the AAI Introductory and Advanced Courses in Immunology, selection and presentation of a wide range of professional achievement and career development Awards, including the AAI Public Service Award, public education and public affairs activities, recruiting new members and assessing the needs of existing members, including women and minority scientists, and oversight of publication policies pertinent to The Journal of Immunology (The JI).
