Cascade Blue Fluor Dye, Blue Emission

Cascade Blue™ is a highly fluorescent blue-emitting dye designed for applications requiring excitation with UV or violet light sources. The fluorophore exhibits a relatively large Stokes shift, high fluorescence intensity, and good photostability, making it well suited for sensitive fluorescence detection and multiplex imaging experiments.

When conjugated to DNA, RNA, PNA, aptamers, or other synthetic oligonucleotides, Cascade Blue™ provides a compact fluorescent label that minimally perturbs nucleic acid hybridization while enabling sensitive optical detection. Because its emission is well separated from green, orange, and far-red fluorophores, Cascade Blue™ is frequently selected as a FRET donor or as one component of multicolor fluorescence assays.

Bio-Synthesis offers custom Cascade Blue™-modified oligonucleotides for DNA, RNA, PNA, LNA/BNA, aptamers, molecular beacons, siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides, CRISPR guide RNAs, and diagnostic probes. The dye may be incorporated at the 5′ terminus, 3′ terminus, or internal positions, depending on the synthesis strategy.

Typical applications include:

  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Flow cytometry
  • Hybridization probes
  • Molecular beacons
  • FRET donor labeling
  • Biosensor development
  • DNA nanotechnology
  • Multiplex fluorescence assays
  • Molecular diagnostics
