Diagnosis and prediction of oral cancer using saliva-based microRNA.

Oral cancer is the sixteenth most common cancer, accounting for approximately three percent of all cancers diagnosed annually in the United States. In 2022, there were about 54,000 new cases reported. Despite the high number of cases, there is not much research conducted on the early detection of oral cancer. However, a recent article by Punyadeera et al. has proposed an exciting method for the early diagnosis and prediction of oral cancer risk in oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD).
