With the capability to synthesize 100-200 bases long oligonucleotides, BSI can put small genes together. A small gene can be defined as one that encodes for 30-60 residues in length. The ability to chemically synthesize proves very useful to the biomedical researcher that studies control of gene expression. A Mini Gene can code for a peptide that can be an antagonist to a regulatory protein. BSI can deliver mini genes in about 5-7 days.
