Dansyl Fluor Dye Labeling
Dansyl dye is one of the earliest and most widely used fluorescent labels in biochemical research. The fluorophore consists of a dimethylaminonaphthalene sulfonyl group that exhibits strong environment-dependent fluorescence, meaning its emission intensity and wavelength vary depending on the surrounding molecular environment.
Unlike many modern fluorophores that maintain relatively constant fluorescence, Dansyl becomes brighter and often exhibits a blue-shifted emission in hydrophobic environments while displaying weaker fluorescence in aqueous solutions. This property makes it particularly useful for investigating biomolecular interactions, conformational changes, membrane binding, protein folding, and nucleic acid hybridization.

Oligonucleotides are stable in solution at 4°C for up to 2 weeks. Properly reconstituted material stored at -20°C should be stable for at least 6 months. Dried DNA (when kept at -20°C) in a nuclease-free environment should be stable for years.
