Dialkylaminocoumarin (DEAC)

Diethylaminocoumarin (DEAC) is a member of the coumarin family of fluorescent dyes and is widely used as a compact fluorescent label for nucleic acids, proteins, and other biomolecules. The dye is characterized by strong absorption in the near-UV region and bright blue fluorescence emission, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring short-wavelength excitation.

When incorporated into DNA, RNA, PNA, aptamers, or oligonucleotide probes, DEAC enables sensitive fluorescence detection while introducing minimal steric interference due to its relatively small molecular size. The fluorophore is frequently used as a FRET donor, in fluorescence polarization assays, biosensor development, hybridization studies, and molecular imaging.

Oligonucleotides are stable in solution at 4°C for up to 2 weeks. Properly reconstituted material stored at -20°C should be stable for at least 6 months. Dried DNA (when kept at 20°C) in a nuclease-free environment should be stable for years.
