Biotin-streptavidin interaction is irreversible. This ineraction is stable over a broad pH and temperature specturm. Conditions necessary to release biotin can be potentially harmful or negatively affect downstream application. PC Biotin contained a photocleavable spacer arm which can be cleaved when exposed to UV light at specific wavelength (300-350 nm)1.
