Description:
This peptide was isolated from the blood of an experimentally infected insect, the blow fly Calliphora vicina (Diptera). In vitro experiments reveal that alloferon 1 has stimulatory activities on natural killer lymphocytes. In vivo trials indicate the induction of IFN production in mice after treatments with synthetic alloferon. Alloferon has antiviral and antitumoral capabilities in vivo.
