The Oyster®-647 fluorophore can be incorporated at any position within an Oligonucleotide. Oyster-647 is a negatively charged cyanine based dye which is well suited for replacing Cy3, Alexa Fluor® 555, Dylight® 550 fluorophores. The Oyster®-550 fluorophore is especially recommended for the replacement of Cy3 in applications such as microarray and FISH.

A primary amine modified oligonucleotide allows covalent attachment of the Oyster 647 fluorophore via NHS conjugation chemistry. However, other cross-linking chemistries are also available depending on particular project specifications. After oligonucleotide synthesis and dye conjugation, a dual HPLC purification is used to remove failure sequences and excessive dye quantitatively to obtain a full length labeled oligonucleotide.
